Funerals
Grahams Funerals Services
Funerals can be held at a Church, Marae, Crematorium, Chapel, the graveside, the family residence, Sports Clubs, etc. The family can choose the funeral service venue they feel is appropriate.
The funeral arrangements can be discussed at a place and time convenient to the family. This could be a family residence, at one of our three locations, the hospital or rest home, or a friends residence.
The family may wish to spend time with their loved one in the days before the funeral service. Viewing can be arranged at any of our locations or we can take the deceased home, or viewing may be possible at the funeral venue prior to the service.
The funeral service can be conducted by a Minister of Religion, but if this is not your wish then we can arrange a funeral celebrant to officiate. Any person can officiate at a funeral service, so a family member or friend could fulfil this role.
Clothing will need to be chosen and it is possible to help dress, if desired.
We are able to attend to the necessary arrangements for a burial or cremation service and have extensive knowledge of local cemetery and crematoria options and requirements. As there is no crematorium in the Franklin District, cremations are carried out at one of the crematoriums in Auckland.
A private cremation after a local funeral and committal service is the most common choice for families. Manukau Memorial Gardens Crematorium, being the closest to Franklin District, is the usual destination, unless otherwise requested.
Embalming is an essential service provided by funeral directors. Without embalming, nature begins to take its course very soon after death. To enable everyone connected with the funeral - family, friends and professionals - to view the deceased without unpleasantness or embarrassment and without risk to health, whatever the cause of death, we carry out this careful medical procedure unless a specific request is made by the family not to do so.
Embalming is carried out at our own mortuary facility by our suitably trained staff, with the utmost professionalism, respect and dignity.
Our Mission Statement: -
"To facilitate a memorable and meaningful farewell that exceeds the family's expectations".
This guiding principle reflects our genuine desire to care for and help our community when a death affects the lives of family and friends within that community.
